Kids deserve the same comfort and fit, with regard to Scuba gear, as adults. This is the reasoning behind this scuba system designed especially for younger Scuba Divers. The system is made up of Oceanic's Explorer Youth BCD, the popular GT3/CDX5 regulator, Veo 100 dive computer combo and the Oceanic Alpha 8 Octopus.
The Oceanic Explorer Youth BCD is a weight integrated style that can accommodate up to a total of 10 pounds of soft or hard weights (weight not included). The weight pockets feature the Quick Lock Release (QLR) system for emergency weight release. The generous strap adjustments allow for growth and the material used in the construction is 420 Denier Fade-less nylon. The backpack is also integrated and has a convenient carrying handle. The Oceanic Explorer Youth BCD also has adjustable sternum and crotch strap for a more personalized fit.
The GT3 regulator uses Oceanic's CDX5 over balanced first stage which is excel.lent for both warm and colder water diving due to its diaphragm design and environmental kit which comes standard with this first stage. The GT3 second stage allows the user to adjust the inhalation effort which, when once set, remains constant throughout the entire dive.
The Alternate air source is the Alpha 8, which has been a favorite design for years. The unit is easily identified because it uses a hi-viz yellow hose which extends into the faceplate of the Occy.
The Veo 100 combo console chosen for this package is a two gauge console, with one gauge being the submersible pressure gauge and Veo 100 dive computer. The dive computer is a basic entry level design which is simple to use. Features of the computer include time and date stamp, 12 dive recall log book mode, nitrogen load and off load bar graph, variable ascent rate bar graph, dive time remaining and depth. There is also room to add a swiv compass (purchased separately). The submersible pressure gauge has easy-to-read numbers and has Oceanic's OceanGlo Luminescence used on the face of the gauge. There is also an integrated temperature gauge.
